A newly discovered four-eyed fish is baffling scientists with its 360 degree vision. The glasshead barreleye, which can be found 1,000m deep, has evolved with extra eyes to help detect prey, potential mates and predators. It was found by excited researchers at the University of Tubingen’s Institute of Anatomy in Germany. As well as its two primary cylindrical eyes – which point upwards – the fish also has a second set of silvery ones on the side its head. These have a second mirror-like lens and retina, and give this creature a definite advantage in the ocean. It’s said the fish can grow up to a length of 16cm, although you wouldn’t want to come face-to-face with it.

 A MUM has described her terror after she was bitten by a snake which had snuggled up on her chest as she slept. Caroline Griffin woke up to find the 4ft reptile beneath her duvet. When she screamed, the brown and cream creature sank its fangs into her bosom – leaving bruising and angry puncture marks. The Sabo Police Station on Tuesday arraigned a 49-year-old pastor, Moyo Martins, before a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly cutting off the fingers of a two-year-old child, Saidat Faleye. The incident happened on Olumo Street, Iwaya Onike, Yaba, Lagos State. It was learnt that the mother of the victim, Mrs. Bola Faleye, had left her in the care of Martins on Thursday, when she wanted to take her bath. After she was gone, the child and the suspect were said to have been together in his room. About five minutes later, our correspondent gathered that the child suddenly let out a loud shriek of pain which drew the attention of neighbours. Stern looking fully armed security operatives from the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police Force on Tuesday morning surrounded the headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in Abuja. Although officials of the corporation denied any bomb threat, our correspondent gathered that the heavily armed men were drafted to site following claims of possible attack on the NNPC towers by terrorists.
