Ronke Shonde For Burial As Police Is Set To Try Lekan For Murder

The Lagos State Police Command says alleged wife killer, Lekan Shonde, will be tried for murder. The Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, told PUNCH Metro on Thursday that the suspect would be arraigned in court today (Friday) for allegedly killing his wife, Ronke. This is just as our correspondent learnt that the remains of the late Ronke would soon be buried. It was gathered that the corpse had been released to her family by the police after the conclusion of autopsy on Wednesday. It was learnt that the family members had fixed Friday (today) for the burial, but could change their mind. This is just as a member of the family said they were not excited about Lekan’s arraignment. The source, who did not want to be identified because the family did not want any further report on the matter, said the victim’s mother had insisted that she had forgiven 51-year-old Lekan. The Nigerian Army has confirmed the rescue of another of the over 200 girls abducted in Chibok Local Government of Borno State over two years ago. This is coming barely a day after Amina Ali, also one of the abducted girls, was rescued. The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, confirmed the rescue to our correspondent via a text message. It was gathered that there was a major military operation in a part of the area, but it is not clear if this rescue is a fallout of the said exercise.
