Another day, another Trump resignation: Tom Price resigns as Health Secretary for using private jets for government business trips

Image
Yesterday September 29, 2017, Tom Price resigned as Secretary of Health and Human Services following criticism of his use of private charters and military aircraft for travel. In a series of reports in September 2017, Politico reported that since May 2017, Price had expended more than $1 million of department funds for his own travel on private charter jets and military aircraft. Many of the flights were between cities that are easily accessible by train or car and have frequent, low-cost commercial airline service.   Five Democratic members of Congress requested an inspector general's investigation into Price's use of private aircraft.   Price's use of private planes was legal but was criticized by ethics experts as a misuse of taxpayer funding. Price's spokesperson justified Price's use of private jets as a reasonable precaution, given that Price was once unable to attend an important meeting because a commercial flight was cancelled;  Politico  noted

Why They Want To Scuttle My Presidential Ambition- Fayose

Image
Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, has said the imminent defeat of President Muhammadu Buhari in a free and fair election in 2019 is the major reason the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government is harassing and intimidating his aides and associates. He also said the blunt truth he told Nigerians during his declaration of interest that Buhari and the APC had nothing good to offer Nigeria has pierced the conscience of APC leaders and given them wounded heart. He, however, said he won’t be intimidated into abandoning a divine project of rescuing the country from maladministration. Fayose, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, on Friday, said notwithstanding needless harassment, whoever thought he could stop a moving train with bare hands would have himself to blame in the end.The governor described the arrest of two officials of the state by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as the height of impunity, as a compet

While speaking at the 5th-anniversary lecture of News Express in Lagos yesterday September 28th, Adesina said that the purveyors of fake news and the consumers of such news have continued to help in its circulation.  According to the presidential media aide, those who spread fake news and also the consumers of fake news should be punished by law. “I have suffered a lot from those whotwist information. Our president came back August 19 and we said on 21, he was going to broadcast. We said the broadcast was 8am. Suddenly someone went online and said the broadcast has changed to 7am which had no truth in it at all. And you know, many people believed the change so a lot of people missed the original broadcast. That same day people began to call to ask if there was a public holiday. It turned out that it was Kogi state that de
