"Nnamdi Kanu might have relocated to the UK"- Femi Falana

Image
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, says that the life of the leader of the now-outlawed secessionist group, IPOB, might be in danger following the recent clash members of his group had with military officers in Umuahia, Abia state. Falana also said that he might have relocated to the UK to join his family.  In an interview with Punch, Falana said when Kanu was campaigning for the creation of Biafra, he never threw away his British passport."Mind you, the fellow and his wife and children are British citizens. He may have left the country to join his family in the United Kingdom. While campaigning for Biafra he never threw away his British passport. I hope he has not run away so that he does not jeopardize the liberty of his sureties. It is an irony that Kanu, who is leading the struggle for the Balkanization of Nigeria, has dual citizenship, while Mr. Shettima Yerima, who gave the notice to quit to Igbo people in the North lives in Lagos" he said. When asked if Kanu's

And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm (Mark 4:39).*_ God doesn’t want you to go through life as though you’re helpless and handicapped. Rather, He wants you to take charge and do something with your life, and about your situation. You should make things happen in your life. You might be crying, “Lord, don’t you see my situation? Do something!” No, you’re the one to do something, because He’s given you the power. Act like Jesus. He calmed the storms with words. He said to the raging tempest, “Peace, be still” and there was a great calm. Perhaps for some reason, you find yourself agitated and fearful about a situation

'Till Jesus comes, corruption will not end in Nigeria' - Prophet Abiara

Image
Prophet Samuel Abiara, the immediate past General Evangelist of theChrist Apostolic Churchin a recent interview with Punchng said, 'there is no way corruption will end inNigeria before Jesus Christ comes'.There is corruption everywhere. It is just that the way each country does theirs is different. But it seems the issue of graft in Nigeria is indescribable.  It is disheartening the amount of money people steal in Nigeria. They stole so much and keep them in bizarre places. Why do they do this knowing that one cannotlive forever? I have come to realise that looters are only rich compared to wealthy people. He continued to say,'the difference between the two is that those who steal public funds are only rich. Theysteal for their greed and self alone. But wealthy people work hard for their money.  They work so hard to empower people by establishing firms where many work. They are conscious that they have to leave legacies long after their death. For example, Alhaji A

APC's Silent Revolution In Ekiti- the Ojudu Factor

The fence mending engagements within the Ekiti State’s All Progressives Congress APC), spearheaded by the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, is gathering enormous momentum. The APC in Ekiti, it was gathered, seems to be making wrong moves to secure a united and formidable front to seize power from the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the governorship elections slated for June, 2018. The political party’s combination of peace meetings with political education at the community levels is not only making noticeable in-roads at the grassroots, but attracting mass patronage and fans even at the state’s urban cities. It would be recalled that Ojudu started what he dubbed ‘Community Mobilisation Outreach’ in the state’s three Senatorial Districts just five months ago. He has since then held several meetings and consultations in all the Senatorial Districts, propagating one and only one message: the APC in the state should be united and

Ekiti 2018: Fayose's Bold Steps, The Ripples

Two things are settled about the 2018 governorship election in Ekiti State: It is not going to be a walkover and it would feature old combatants. As to how the outcome would affect politics in the state, a lot of issues would be at play. Signs that various interest groups have started strategising emerged recently, when the incumbent governor Ayo Fayose supported the endorsement of his deputy, Professor Kolapo Olusola for the next governorship poll. Picking his deputy as the arrow head for the poll could be seen as Fayose’s way of celebrating the favourable apex court ruling in the protracted leadership challenge in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Had the court ruled otherwise, Fayose would have got more to lose. That would have led to the further shrinking of PDP. And crumbling at a time he was the chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum, the Ekiti governor would have been forced to ground zero. Of course he had announced that if the verdict favours Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, he would look

Sheriff's Visit To VP: We Are Still In PDP, Says Mikko

Contrary to insinuations that Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s recent visit to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was to pave way for his eventual defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), erstwhile spokesperson of Sheriff group, Bernard Mikko, insists they are still members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Mikko also denied any meeting with APC national chairman, John Oyegun, stressing that Sheriff’s visit to Osinbajo “was purely on national state matters and had nothing to do with politics.”Meanwhile, the APC chairman, Odigie-Oyegun has also distanced himself from Sheriff’s visit to Aso Rock. Some reports had claimed that both Odigie-Oyegun and Sheriff met with Osinbajo, in connection with Sheriff’s purported moves to rejoin the APC. On the nexus between the visit and recent defection of the former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Cairo Ojougboh, who was a staunch supporter of Sheriff, Mikko explained that Ojougbo informed him of his intention to join APC in Delta State, adding

She has several movies and awardsto her name, yet veteran actress Joke Silva is not resting on her oars. In this interview with ADENIYI ADEWOYIN, she speaks on some of the precautions to be taken to prevent domestic violence, among other issues. WAS acting what you set out to do? Oh yes. I knew from about the age of 10 and my parents supported me from the schools that I went to. After my A levels, I prayed. I asked God for confirmation and He said yes and I spoke to my father and he said, ‘take a gap for a year and see if this industry is yours.’ I’m talking of like late 70s and early 80s which wasn’t common in our time and they allowed me to do it. When they found out that this was what I wanted to do and enjoyed doing, they said ‘okay, go to drama school.’ Were your parents not bothered then because what most parents wanted for their kids was to be engineers, doctors and accountants? I think what bothered them was the concern that would I be able to make a living out of th

'Alex Iwobi has to improve' - Arsene Wenger

Image
Arsenal head coach, Arsene Wenger, has urged Nigerian youngster, Alex Iwobi, to add more goals and assiststo his game and improve, as he feels the future is bright for the winger, if only he keeps his focus and mentality intact. Iwobi, since his promotion from the club’s academy has been an integral part of the team, but has scored a miserly five goals in 41 English Premier League games, a situation Wenger doesn't want to see continue for the 21 year old.“I like the fact that he can play in tight areas, that he turns the game forwards, that he’s very mobile, " Wenger told the club’s website. “We forget sometimes that Alex is still a very young player and that there’s a lot more to come from him. “There must be a lot more to come from him because he has more personality in the game now. “We expect him to be more efficient in the final third offensively, because you feel there are goals in there and assists too.“They have to come out. Add that to the fact that he allows the
