The Nigerian Police in Cross River State on Saturday rescued a kidnapped victim and her car in Odukpani Local Government Area after 5 days in captivity. According to reports, one of the suspect was killed by police personnel in the exchange of fire while some live cartridges were also recovered. It was also gathered that the Kinping of the gang escaped with bullet injuries and the men of the police are still after him, while the victim is fine and being taken care of.

A girl was humiliated after she was caught while trying to play a fast one on a lady in Delta state. According to reports, a lady who wanted to withdraw money from the ATM at GT Bank was discouraged due to the long queue as she reportedly gave her ATM card to a girl who is said to be in SS2 - to help her withdraw N10,000. According to reports, the girl reportedly withdrew N70,000 for herself (N50k which she transferred to her account and N20K which she kept in her pocket)... After making the transfer, the girl decided to disappear but was confronted by the owner of the account who chased her with a motorcycle and was shouting 'thief-thief'. The girl was immediately nabbed by passersby and it was discovered that the girl was a secondary student in one of the schools in Sapele area of Delta state and helps her mother to sell at Okirigwhre market. 

Super Eagles get N50m gift from mogul, Adebutu The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been rewarded with the sum of N50 million by a Multi –millionaire mogul, Chief Kensington Adebutu, for becoming the first African country to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.  Some unknown gunmen invaded a compound and shot the landlord and his friend dead. The incident which took place on the 4th of October at no. 23 Mgbuoshimini community, Agip Mile 4, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State has left two people dead, The landlord popularly called Koko and his friend Dickson while some got injured from the machete cuts and also from stray bullets while escaping from the men of underworld. According to one the deceased tenant who shared the story wrote: “It was even by the grace of God that so many of us escaped that night because so many people were injured, some with machete cut, while others were hit by spray bullets but I thank God because i’m alive today not because i’m perfect but because my mission is yet to be accomplished. Three women and 14 others lost their lives following the recent boat mishap in Jalbabu in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi state. The incident which occurred last Monday at about  12 noon  had about 60 passengers onboard a ferry from Jalababu in Yauri LGA of Kebbi to Tatebu in Bura LGA, Niger state. The Council Chairman, Yauri LGA, Hon.Musa Muhammad told the agency's assessment team led by the Head Nema Sokoto Operations Office, Mal. Suleiman Muhammad that 17 people have so far been rescued. He however lamented that continuous search and rescue operations by local divers is still going on to ascertain the casualties figures. Meanwhile, the agency will continue monitoring the operations for an updates on the inc idents.

A husband could not control his emotions when his wife threw him a surprise party for his 50th birthday. The Senate has set up a panel to investigate the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation NNPC, Maikanti Baru, over allegations made against him by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, in a petition sent to President Buhari.  Kachikwu in the petition dated August 30th, accused Baru of insubordination and the award of a $25 million contract without going through due process.

       Oyo State Government has announced the immediate closure of Agodi Zoo located in Ibadan, the State capital. The government said the decision is based on the report received from the company managing the Zoo, AM & C, that one of the lions at the Zoo had accidentally attacked one of the attendants, Mr. Hamzat Oyekunle popularly known as Baba Olorunwa, who later died from injuries sustained from the incident. Meanwhile, the lions have been evacuated pending further investigations.           The government decision was contained in a statement at the weekend by the Executive Secretary, Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP), Mr. Yinka Fatoki who expressed shock at the unfortunate incident. He said that the incident is particularly surprising and sad as the said Mr. Oyekunle had fed the lion for over five years and was known to have had a very good relationship with all the animals in the zoo. The State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Ekiti State,  Ade Adesanmi  has disagreed with  Governor Ayodele Fayose  that workers in Ekiti are owed only four months’ salaries.   He said state workers were owed about eight months’ salaries.  Fayose had, while appearing on a television station interview programme in Lagos on Thursday, claimed that workers were owed just four months’ salaries. Reacting to the claim on Saturday, Adesanmi said different categories of workers in Ekiti were owed between five and eight months’ salaries. 'As we speak, the civil servants are owed five months’ salary arrears; local government, eight months’ salaries; and institutions like College of Education, Ikere, College of Heath Technology, Ijero and Ekiti State Universities are owed Seven months' salaries'  he said.

In her book  'On Becoming', Toke Makinwa revealed how a gas cylinder leak led to the fire incident that killed her parents when she was just 8-years-old. Yesterday, she tweeted that before the ugly incident happened, her parents once joked about dying together and it eventually happened. According to her,  'they joked about dying together, perfect ride/die and it happened. They were buried side by side'. Her father,  Caleb Ifemayowa Makinwa  was 35 while her mother,  Modupe Monica Makinwa  died at the age of 34.
